The Arts and Crafts Movement in the Cotswolds
“From history to hands-on”
At Hawkwood College, Stroud in partnership with the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen
Friday 21 Nov 2014 – Sunday 23 Nov 2014
This is a unique opportunity to discover more about the remarkable Arts and Crafts Movement with its roots in the Cotswolds and to produce a piece of work that is both useful and beautiful. 
Day one: Well-known writer and speaker Mary Greensted will give an introductory course on the Arts and Crafts Movement in the Cotswolds looking at the inspiration of William Morris and focusing on the work of Gloucestershire designer-makers Ernest Gimson and Alfred and Louise Powell.
Day two: Liz Lippiatt, a contemporary textile designer-printer and member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen will give a workshop in the spirit of the Arts and Crafts.  Participants will be shown how to cut simple stencils inspired by nature and print them onto linen cushion panels. 
This is an optional residential course and all meals are provided by Raymond Blanc trained chef using locally sourced organic ingredients.
